![]() ![]() Do we really think that people across the river in New Jersey are seeing way more towers? Or is it just that there's a lot of tiny towns on the New Jersey side that each get their own dot? You'll see one dot for Manhattan and one dot for Brooklyn. If you see a dot, it means "yes, we've seen 5G in X town" and not "we have seen a tower at the location of the dot." Literally, zoom in on New York City. When I checked the locations with Maps, none of the locations showed the towers, but then the towers could be newer than latest Gmaps.Ĭhecked with what maps? Are you talking about using street view? Yes, they won't show up there because Ookla isn't mapping towers. ![]() ![]() Most of the dots will literally be over the town's name on the map because they're looking at the geocode of the town, not of a tower. It's just showing towns (with some towns showing up more than once, possibly because many geo data sets duplicate some towns due to often archaic naming differences for sub-regions of a town). The one you linked to is not showing towers. Ookla's 5G map on the app shows where they've seen coverage. When I checked the locations with Maps, none of the locations showed the towers, but then the towers could be newer than latest Gmaps.ĭoes anyone know more about the Ookla map, in particular regarding new TMO 5G service?īTW, none of the tower locations were on Cellmapper either.Ĭellmapper is pretty bad for 5G. It isn't clear if the Ookla map is showing actual completed installs, or planned installs. When I found the Ookla map, it shows three new 5G TMO towers, one only 2 blocks away. ![]() Anyway, they both intend to get new 5G phones but it still didnt' seem that was going to help their tower distance issue. I think her older phone doesn't even have b71 which would help. My Sis-in-law says she has to use the phone's wifi mode to get and make calls. Things made worse living in a concrete bunker, i.e. The area where my brother lives is more rural and most of the towers are along the freeway, several miles away to the closest. I stumbled on the Ookla 5G map when running some speedtests. ![]()
